My work centres round an interest in the microscopic structures of microbiology and a desire to create a way of allowing the viewer to interact with elements of this unseen world by enlarging them to our dimensions.
Using the vocabulary of colours and shapes acquired in my study of biological structures and microphotography I create objects and images – not completely biologically correct but similar enough for the viewer to associate them with much enlarged biological structures – that give the viewer an uncanny sensation of being much smaller and perhaps even the sensation of momentarily belonging to a different world.
My work invites people to escape the everyday, explore an alternate world and consider the infinitude of space.
